A senior civil servant claims Gavin Williamson told them to ‘slit your throat’ in what they felt was a campaign of bullying

Grant Shapps, the business secretary, has said Sir Gavin Williamson has apologised for sending abusive messages to a colleague. As PA Media reports, asked if Williamson was a bully while arriving in Downing Street for cabinet this morning, Shapps replied:

Not in my experience. Clearly he shouldn’t have sent those [messages], he’s recognised that and he’s apologised about it.
