Firefighters battle blaze as authorities in French city say up to 10 people could be trapped under rubble

An apartment building has collapsed in an apparent explosion in Marseille, injuring at least five people, with authorities in the French city saying up to 10 others could be under the burning rubble.

At the moment of the blast at about 12.40am on Sunday, “everything shook, you could see people running and there was smoke everywhere, the building fell on to the street”, a local grocer, Aziz, told AFP, asking that his family name not be used.
